Pius X Student Charged with Stabbing Ruled Competent to Stand Trial

A judge has found a student charged with stabbing a classmate at Pius X competent to stand trial.  Sarah Piccolo will be back in court June 12th for stabbing 17-year-old, Ellen Kopetzky in the women's bathroom on October 7.  Police say Piccolo used a survival knife, similar to a hunting knife, and a hammer to attack Kopetzky, who was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Piccolo was found and arrested the next day in Woodson County, Kansas, telling authorities she planned on hurting others, then kill herself. The judge has already rejected a defense request to have the case moved to juvenile court. The girl is 17 now and has pleaded not guilty to felony assault and weapons charges.
