May 9 Marks 6th Annual Kick Off to Bike to Work, Lincoln! Week
(5-8-14) Tomorrow marks the sixth annual kick off of the Bike to Work, Lincoln! Week. The opening rally will be Frida, May 9 at 8 a.m. at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center in Union Plaza. Lincolnites can meet at Bike Rack at 3321 Pioneers Blvd., or Cycle Works at 27th and Vine streets at 7:30 and then bike together to Union Plaza for refreshments. The week-long event will close on Friday, May 16 with a free ice cream social at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center starting at 4:30 p.m. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Daity Store will provide treats. Prizes will also be given at the ice cream social. To qualify to win prizes, people have to fill out a form and pledge to ride their bikes to work at least one day of the week between May 9 and 16. People can register to win and receive other information and coupons at the Cycle Works and Bike Rack locations listed above, as well as Joyride at 5633 S. 16th Street, the Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department or Lincoln Parks and Recreation. Pledge forms are also available at lincoln.ne.gov.
