Arrest Made in Hit-and-Run Case

An arrest has been made in a hit and run that happened in University Place almost a month ago. Lincoln Police arrested 53-year-old Debra Novak on Friday afternoon for the February 21st hit and run that left 46-year-old David Hughes in the hospital in critical condition with life threatening injuries. Investigators say Novak was driving northbound on N 48th Street when her car struck a pedestrian crossing the intersection at Madison Avenue. Witnesses stated that she left the scene, northbound, without stopping to render aid or report the collision. Debra was lodged at the Lancaster County Jail for leaving the scene of a serious injury accident, which is a class-three felony.
