Former LFR Chief Ford To Lead Baltimore Fire Department

BALTIMORE, MD -- Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has named a public administrator and former Lincoln fire chief as the next chief of city's new fire department.  The mayor announced Monday that she has selected 48-year-old Niles Ford to be Baltimore's next fire chief. Most recently, Ford served as city manager of Chamblee, Ga., managing the city's $14 million budget.  From 2007 to 2011, Ford was fire chief for Lincoln. Previously, he was Atlanta's deputy fire chief in the Fulton County fire department.  Rawlings-Blake says Ford will continue to reform the department. She says he has a proven track record.  Former Baltimore Fire Chief James Clack announced his resignation in June. He served as fire chief since 2008. Assistant Chief Jeffrey R. Segal was named acting fire chief since Clack left.
