LINCOLN -- One of only a few places you can buy loose meat sandwiches and famed onion chips in Lincoln will shut down for good next Sunday, after 65 years in business. The Tastee Inn and Out near 48th and Holdrege will close because owner Linda Taylor is retiring after decades of running the fast food restaurant. When news got out, a line of cars extended back out into the street and demand for those loose meat sandwiches was so much, they ran out of food and closed for the day at 2pm Saturday. Again, the restaurant will close for good next Sunday.
