LINCOLN -- More charges have been filed against a man suspected of being involved in two fatal beatings, hours apart from each other on June 29. The Lancaster County Attorney's office has amended those charges against Richard McLaughlin III to second degree murder, accessory to a felony and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Court records say his bond remained set at 10 percent of $50,000. McLaughlin is currently serving time for burglary. It was early on Saturday, June 29, police were called to 14th and Benton Streets in Lincoln. They found 27-year-old David Mueller on the sidewalk. It was determined through an autopsy that he suffered from blunt force trauma. He died July 7. Hours later on June 29, 20-year-old Nathan "Shane" Walton, was found in the street at 38th and L Streets. He died on July 2, also from blunt force trauma.
