LINCOLN -- An 8 mile ice-covered stretch of Interstate 80 triggered at least a half-dozen traffic crashes while you slept. State Troopers, Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputies and fire crews from Waverly, Greenwood and Lincoln responded to accidents on both sides of Lincoln...most of them east of Waverly on I-80. First, there was a rollover crash just west of the Waverly scales. Minutes later, a semi jack knifed just east of the Waverly scales. Then a 2 car crash was reported just west of the Greenwood Interchange. Minutes later, the only crash in westbound lanes, just east of the Greenwood Interchange. According to the State Patrol, the only injury accident came from a crash 1/2 mile west of the Greenwood Interchange. One driver suffered a head injury and was last listed in critical condition. The only crash west of Lincoln was a semi truck that went out of control near NW 48th Street.
