Wreaths Across America To Lay Wreaths At Wyuka

LINCOLN -- Veteran graves at Lincoln's Wyuka Cemetery will be decorated with 20-inch evergreen wreaths as part of this year's "Wreaths Across America."  It's a tradition that started in 1992, when 5,000 wreaths were donated to be placed on headstones in an older section of Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.  Diane Bartels is one of the Lincoln area volunteers for "Wreaths Across America" and told listeners on the KFOR Morning Show Wednesday each wreath costs $15.  She says you can donate online or send a check by mail.  Donations can be sent to Wreaths Across America-Lincoln, in care of Ralph Bierman, 4822 West Kingsley, Lincoln, NE and the zip code is 68524.  If you donate online, go to this website: www.WreathsAcrossAmerica.org.  Make sure to include the location ID, which is NEWYKC, and the group ID: NEAFA187 so your donation can be used for Wyuka's veteran graves. You may also contact Bartels for more information at 402-429-3342 or by email at DBSharpie@aol.com.   Donations will be accepted through December 2.  Two public ceremonies will commemorate the fallen and honor those who served our country.  The first one will be Monday, December 9 at 11am inside the Warner Chamber at the State Capitol, while the 1,500 wreaths to be laid at Wyuka Cemetery will be Saturday, December 14 at 9am.
