Homeless Man's Death Under Investigation

LINCOLN -- The death of a 47-year-old homeless man found behind a building near 9th and Saunders on Saturday is under investigation.  Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood says someone saw George Ike in poor condition and called for help.  Flood says one he was at the hospital, Ike told police he was hit by a car but then changed his story by saying he was assaulted.  Investigators say his injuries appear to be consistent with being hit by a car.  Flood says Ike died from his injuries around 8:30 Saturday night.  Ike may have been hurt some where close by, since Cornhusker Highway is to the north and Interstate 180 is directly west.
