Enrollment Up At Lincoln Public Schools

LINCOLN -- Lincoln's public schools have been had this many students...37,845 for the 2013-14 school year, 943 more than last year.  That's about the number of students for 2 average-sized elementary schools. Roper is the largest elementary school with 864 students, while Lux Middle School has more than 1,000 students and Southeast is the district's largest high school at little more than 2,000 students.  The poverty rate for LPS also increased this year reaching a record 44 1/2% of all students – 2% more students last year – a statistic measured by the number of students on free and reduced lunch.
