OMAHA -- As expected, Omaha businessman Pete Ricketts is running for governor. Ricketts ran in the 2006 Senate race against Democrat Ben Nelson, but lost by 28 percentage points, despite spending nearly $13 million -- $12 million of his own money. Ricketts told the Omaha World-Herald that he plans to run a much different campaign this time and spend less of his own money. Ricketts is a board member at Omaha-based online brokerage, TD Ameritrade. His family also owns the Chicago Cubs. Ricketts announced his campaign Sunday, becoming the 5th candidate in a crowded GOP primary.
