LPD Investigating Rash Of Burglaries

LINCOLN -- Lincoln Police continue to investigate a rash of burglaries.  In the last week, there have been 5.  Two of those burglaries were reported on Thursday morning by employees opening the business for the day.  Officer Katie Flood says burglars entered Le Nails in the 2400 block of north 11th through a broken window. Someone went through the nail stations and rummaged through a cabinet, taking manicure items and bottles of nail polish for a loss just over $3000.   Then, around 1030a, employees at Africa Market on north 27th reported a burglary.  Thieves got away with a cash register, tools and boxes of Yeman Africa Hair Extensions.  The extensions are described expensive and distinct.  They are straight, 16 to 18 inches long, in various colors.  Africa Market suffered a loss of nearly $11,000.  Flood says even though there has been an uptick in activity, burglaries are actually down 25%.  As of this day a year ago, there were 225.  In 2013, there have been 167.
