FREMONT, Neb. -- Educated at Harvard and Oxford, the latest Republican to run for the Nebraska U.S. Senate seat being given up by Republican Mike Johanns is 37 year old Ben Sasse, President of Midland University. Sasse has a Ph.D. from Yale and a record of federal government service. He served in the Bush Administration as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services. Sasse has been spending the summer traveling the state, talking to Nebraskans, getting a feel for support. Then Monday, filed candidacy paperwork with the Secretary of State's office. Sasse joins two other Republicans in the race -- former Nebraska State Treasurer Shane Osborn and Omaha attorney Bart McLeay.
