Carlson Eyeballs Possible Run For Governor

LINCOLN -- A Holdrege senator eyeing a run for governor announces his decision Friday at the state Capitol building. Republican Tom Carlson was elected to the Legislature in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He can't run again because of term limits. Senator Carlson serves as chair of the Natural Resources Committee, and was previously chairman of the Agriculture Committee. Two other candidates have formally declared bids for governor: Republican Senator Charlie Janssen of Fremont and Democrat Chuck Hassebrook of Lyons. Democratic Senator Steve Lathrop of Omaha is on a "listening tour" as he weighs a possible run.
