Niobium May Be In Johnson County Town

ELK CREEK, Neb. -- The tiny town of Elk Creek could be the new home to the planet's rarest heat resistant element. The US Geological Survey estimates the tiny town of just over 100 people 45 miles southeast of Lincoln is potentially the "largest global resources of Niobium & other rare-Earth elements". Niobium is expected to be mined soon by a Canadian company, which right now continues to drill samples to determine just how much Niobium and other rare elements are underground.  The discovery was made 4 years ago. Progress is slow...people of Elk Creek are hoping Niobium will bring an economic boom to their town.
