Sport A Mustache To Golf For Charity

LINCOLN -- Regardless of your golf handicap and if you can grow facial hair or not, you can participate in one of the Golf Channel's top five golf scrambles this year nationally. Gender is not an issue, either. The Mustache Open is June 8th at Lincoln's Hi-Mark Golf Course and open to anyone. Lincoln native Cliff Waterbury first organized the event in 1999, just up the road in Ashland with a group of about 80 guys as a reason to go golfing with mustaches. It's now become a way to help raise money for charities, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Mustache For Kids. Waterbury says the Mustache Open was featured on the Golf Channel as one of the top five golf scrambles this year. To take part in the two-person scramble at Hi-Mark, go online to www.mustacheopen.com to register. The deadline is June 1st. Waterbury also says donations can be made in person on the day of the scramble.
