GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- An all-day meeting starts at Noon Thursday in Grand Island on the Keystone XL oil pipeline. It's the last open public forum on the 1,700 mile, $7 billion project, planned to pump thick, crude tar sands oil from Canada to the Texas Gulf, through Nebraska. Opposition was strong last year...and it's still there, but a new proposed route which skirted the Sandhills and the heart of the Ogallala Aquifer has lessened the intensity. KFOR NEWS will be monitoring the U.S. State Department public meeting all day.
