The investigation into the shooting of 21-year-old Jeffrey Stotler at 50-year-old Michael Kinney's home in Bennet has been concluded. Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says Kinney, who was arrested for 1st Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to commit a felony, will not be charged. The shooting occurred after a disturbance between Kinney's daughter and Stotler on the way from Lincoln to Bennet and continued in the Kinney's front yard. Kinney's daughter was able to escape into the Kinney home. Stotler left, but returned and forcibly entered through a locked door. Kinney shot Stotler twice with a .22 caliber rifle. Stotler underwent surgery at Bryan West and was just released from Intensive Care, but is still hospitalized. The domestic violence case that precipitated the incident is still under investigation.
