LINCOLN -- The State High School Volleyball tournament is coming back to Lincoln. The Nebraska School Activities Association Board of Control announced that Lincoln's bid beat out Grand Island's attempt to retain the tournament. The tournament, which had been in Lincoln from 1981 to 2009, will be back for a three-year period starting in 2014. Lincoln offered up the Pinnacle Bank Arena, Bob Devaney Sports Center and all city high schools as well as paying the NSAA for costs. Grand Island did the same thing, in addition to a $20,000 gift to the NSAA. Board members said both cities had great offers and one official mentioned Grand Island's run of hosting the event made the tournament even better.
